My Husband is Certifiable!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Well, technically he’s just certified!
Lucas has spent the last two weekends getting his PADI scuba certification in preparation for our trip to Mozambique. Back in Austin, this would be no big deal, but we’re in Norway. And this is “open-water” diving!
Yes, that means that his certification dives were in the Oslofjord. Swimming in the fjord [...]

A Weekend in Paris

Friday, February 26th, 2010

This week I finished uploading my photos from our Valentine’s Day weekend in Paris.  The full album can be found here.

We booked our trip to Paris back in December when RyanAir was having one of their crazy airfare sales, and the roundtrip tickets cost only 200 NOK (around $35) per person.  Since we could fly [...]

A Very Norwegian Weekend

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

This weekend, we went with Tara and Tor to Tor’s family cabin in the mountains.  Even though we’ve been in Norway for three years, we’ve never experienced a traditional cabin trip.  Even more embarrassingly, we’ve never been cross country skiing.
We drove up on Friday night, and our first cross-country experience was quite an adventure – [...]

We’re Going to Mozambique?!

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

If you’re anything like me, you’re looking puzzled and saying, “Really?  Mozambique?!?”  This is a country that was definitely not on my travel radar a month ago!  When I think of southern Africa, I think of South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, and  Zimbabwe.  Basically safaris and Victoria Falls.  So when our friends invited us to [...]

Fascinating Football Commercials – And it’s not even the Superbowl!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

On Sunday night, Lucas and I went to Tara and Tor’s house to watch the playoff game between the Colts and the Jets  (They have an NFL international subscription to watch the live CBS telecast online).  Although I’m not a huge football fan, I did enjoy watching the game.  However, like so many Superbowl viewers, [...]

A Whirlwind Tour of Kerala

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I know that a few people have been eagerly waiting to see some photos of our trip to India, so I’ve been working overtime this past week to try to get them sorted and uploaded in a timely manner.  We don’t want any repeats of last summer’s Alaska trip!  [Speaking of... I have finally started [...]

Weathering the Winter Blues

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I’ve noticed that for the past month or so, my Twitter updates have been predominantly weather-focused.  There have been some exciting things going on at work, but I guess I assume most people don’t really care about the goings-on of our office.  If you are interested:  The summary is that our manager is moving to [...]

Snakes in Norway

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Earlier this year, when Lucas and I were out in Bærum visiting some friends, we all went for a walk in the woods.  I wasn’t watching my feet and ended up stepping on a snake, which startled me more than anything else, and made me feel extraordinarily bad for the tiny snake.  Our friends were [...]

Beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

No, I’m not talking about the weather, but perhaps I should:  The season seems to have taken a sudden nose-dive around here!  On the weekend of our move (was that really only 1½ weeks ago?) I updated my Twitter status to comment how the weather was a perfect fall day.  The sun was shining, [...]

Moving Over and Moving In

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Almost as soon as we had the keys in hand, we started the hassle of moving from one apartment to the other.  After just a few days, we were incredibly thankful that we bought a place so close to our old one!
The first weekend we borrowed a dolly from work (and a shopping cart from [...]
